Collection Disputes: Do They Harm Clearance Approvals?

Cellular company continued charging me after I cancelled and switched carriers. They refused to correct my bill, I said I’ll pay when the bill is corrected. They sent it to collections and I need to file a dispute with credit bureaus. I’ve heard even disputes will hold up or disqualify you for a clearance. I don’t need one yet but I very likely will need one in the next 2-3 yrs. what’s the impact?

Just get it resolved. If the dispute is legitimate, it shouldn’t cause a problem.

Like Ed said, just get it resolved. Yes, accounts in collection and charge-off status CAN impact you getting a clearance or as a minimum slow it down SIGNIFICANTLY. Take care of it before you need the clearance because “I don’t owe you and I’m not paying” never turns out well
