Extended Hiring Freeze - Pulse Check

No one is onboarding unless you had an FJO.

Exactly, the same for me. Everything is completed, just playing the waiting game at this point.

277 days since SF86. 6 months since poly. 5 months since last contract with BI and told they were done. I hate waiting.

Hi, has anyone had contact with their hiring ambassador? I was not aware that we were assigned one until I had attended the new candidate information session.

I wouldn’t count on anything for awhile. Even if someone does make it through, unless they are mission critical or high need, no fed job is safe right now.

I understand that the indoc briefings have been stopped/paused for now. I believe these are/were separate from the new hire briefs which are part of the EOD process. No idea if those are still going on but I strongly suspect not.

Hi,

  1. Are there any RIFs announced in IC due to shutdown yet? Do you think there will be some soon?

  2. This shutdown doesn’t seem it will end anytime soon, does anyone know if there are EOD dates pushed changed recently due to shutdown?

My two bitcents:

  1. I don’t think any IC entities are included in the current round of shutdown RIFs. Not to say there won’t be some in the coming months… or maybe another round of voluntary packages.
  2. I can’t imagine them onboarding anyone at a time when a lot of people are not in the office. Takes a lot of work to get someone entered into the system, payroll, HR, training, indocs, etc etc etc. However I have not heard of anyone having an EOD date pushed back

Kind of a guess on my part. Current administration is fickle. They announced moving into RIFs. Hard to predict anything on Mr Toad’s wild ride

I hope you’re wrong.

Me too..it’s pretty unfortunate

Just out from the White House:

Looks like its back on - however all these people unless you’re in DHS world are likely impacted during the hiring freeze to actually do any recruiting..

I think national security has largely been redefined by this administration. Which that’s fine - but I think it really is focused on domestic natsec now.

Not sure this administration will need to worry too much about “federal hiring” because I don’t think there will be any applicants to hire. It’s going to easily take 10 years for all this vengeful nastiness to be forgotten and perhaps then people will cbegin to consider federal employment.

I don’t think it will take ten years. But other than the exact timeline, I agree with your opinion.

Has anyone heard anything from recruiting since the government reopened?

The Company is recruiting at historic rates rn. They’re the only ones I know are actively talking to people. Ft. Meade, Belvoir, and JBAB are still half dead as far as I can tell

Just to give some insight on the college front - student internship programs at Ft. Meade and JBAB are ongoing. Myself and others have received emails from the HR team to send updated resumes to process for FJOs and/or have recently received CJOs for the other IC agencies’ summer programs. Things are progressing, yes, just very slowly for DoD IC agencies.

Cannot speak to what the company is doing, but FWIW a friend there just finished onboarding.

the JBAB CJOs are still ongoing?

Ft Meade - at least for student programs. My hunch for JBAB is that they are beginning to put together FJOs packages now. Unsure of what the general status is for CJOs/FJOs for full-time roles, or what other IC agencies are doing as well.
