I’m currently going through the process for a TS/SCI clearance. My wife recently had a poly for my application process, and during it she mentioned that I had a grandfather who served in a foreign military(friendly nation). She never met him, and he passed away in 2022.
I didn’t mention him on my SF-86 under foreign contacts because when I filled it out in 2025, I honestly didn’t think it was relevant. He had retired from the military way before I was born, and he was already deceased by the time I submitted the SF-86. Neither my wife nor I have ever had a security clearance before.
Now I’m wondering if I screwed myself by not mentioning him, especially since my wife brought him up during her interview. Do you guys think this is something that could cause an issue with my TS/SCI, or am I overthinking it?
