# How can I get a security clearance

Hi, I am trying for a while to get IT job with government agency but the condition is to already get CompTIA Security+ certification and Security clearance. I do have the certification, now how can I apply for Security Clearance and get one?

You will have to get a job that will put you in for a clearance. Most contractor jobs want somebody who is already cleared; if they do make you an offer you may not be able to start until you are cleared, which could take months.

You could also apply for a federal government job but that could take even longer.

There are any number of IT security jobs that do not require a security clearance… even unclas networks are targets for hackers and need to be secured.
