How the interim clearance is evaluated nowadays?

  1. In the past, interim clearance was granted if you didn’t have any red lights in your SF86 form, such as bankruptcy, debts, employment termination, foreign relatives, etc. You wouldn’t be able to get the interim if you had any of these red lights in your SF86, even if all the potential issues had been mitigated in the past OPM investigation.
  2. I heard in current process, past OPM investigation will be reviewed while your interim is evaluated. Thus, if all your issues have been mitigated during past OPM investigation, you should be able to get the interim, even if the same red lights still show up in your current SF86 form. Is this true?
