I am going for a low risk public trust and I owe $14,000 in back taxes from 2017. I only found out about it back in September of 2017 that I had incorrectly filed. When they sent me the notice, I immediately got myself put on a repayment plan and have made my payments each month since October 2019. I have been told that the process should take 4 weeks. I have no other issues. Will this disqualify me from obtaining the public trust in 4 weeks time? Or will it delay my obtaining of said clearance?
First of all, public trust investigations are either moderate or high risk. As far as your financial issues, as long as you can you can show you already have or are addressing the debts in a responsible manner the concerns will be mitigated.
