At best it will take a long time. Your case is weakened by the more recent drug use. If I had to guess, I suspect you would be denied, but then you can submit a response to the Statement of Reasons (SOR) that I expect you would receive.
I’m not sure how a ‘very lengthy explanation’ in the current SF86 will help. Just outline the facts, no need for justification, explanations, or remorse at this point. An investigator will no doubt want to discuss this in detail with you, let them write up the details which I’m sure will be ‘very lengthy.’
