If new information for your SF86 comes up during or immediately after your interview (accidental omissions that are self-corrected), how is this handled when you then take a polygraph?

Do you share like it’s new info to the examiner? Do you disclose that it’s already been mentioned to a BI? Does that make it not necessary to disclose at all?

Yes, you share it with the Special agent and they add it to the file and it will be addressed in poly.

I had multiple accidental omissions come up during the weeks following my interview, I just called and let my investigator know. This never came up during my polygraph sessions, however since I was still in the BI phase I’m not sure if it was handled differently than if I had disclosed months later.

That’s helpful. Did the omissions cause any hang up in your clearance? Were they drug related? Do you mind me asking if it was for an IC agency? I guess I’ve just been stressed that this accidental omission that felt minor at the time of disclosure is actually a huge mistake and I’m screwed.

It was for an IC agency. I was never granted that specific clearance since I never had a successful polygraph (all inconclusive). However since then I’ve taken up a different cleared opportunity and had no issues. I was extremely stressed as well leading up to my first exam so there were a few accidental omissions that had only crossed my mind after my investigator had submitted my file. Most were pretty irrelevant, one in particular was related to drug use, so I let my examiner know and there weren’t any issues.

Thanks. It’s so hard when people online say even accidental small omissions are a big deal. I feel like I’ve done what I can
