I am a visiting postdoc (immigrant) affiliated with NIH since June 2024. I previously worked at an institution (2023-24) where my postdoc mentor was unsupportive and asked me to resign. I got a RLA badge which worked well for 2 years at NIH. Now my badge has been upgraded to PIV for which there was another round of security clearance. For the recent round of security clearance, I received an email from my adjudicator. ‘Did you receive any reprimand verbal or written in regards to performance issues? Where you ever put on a performance improvement plan? Provide any supporting documents to verify your response.’ Previously, I had stated completion of project when enquired about my previous job in the first round of security clearance (SF85). Any interactions with my supervisor was verbal and I was not put on PIP or written reprimands (I crosschecked with the HR of my previous institution). I wrote a response letter along with my resignation letter which I had submitted at the previous institution which was duly acknowledged by the HR of previous institution. Can anyone please help me out and read my response? @Marko @bebe1979
If there is no written record then there is nothing to report. If HR is saying there is nothing in your file then you are in the clear. Plus, you have had 2 years since of no issues. If it comes up in your security interview with the investigator asking directly about something your prior boss said, address it then Otherwise, treat it as if it never happened because as it pertains to the organization, it didn’t.
It is possible that your supervisor may have stated you were warned about something, because you indicated in your post “any interactions with my supervisor was verbal”, indicating there was an issue. You should respond back to the inquiry as you stated above and that you checked with HR and there was no record.
Thank you for your response.
