I remember seeing that “43,000 security clearance requests a year” you quote in your full article in some news article or DCSA report. Someone got it terribly wrong. DCSA does between 600,000 and 700,000 security clearance cases a year. They claim to do over 2,000,000 cases a year, but that number probably includes SACs and other limited investigations.
The 43,000 was quoted by a DCSA agency official (Mark Nehmer) and probably only refers to initial clearance requests, not PRs, SACs, PVQ updates or upgrades.
Marko: I don’t doubt that you are accurately reporting what was in an official DCSA report or announcement. I saw the same reported number of 43,000. But sometimes DCSA makes mistakes. I can’t find anything recent but according to another DCSA report they adjudicated 396,011 T3 cases and 75,480 T5 cases for a total of 471,491 initial security clearance cases in 2021. It’s very doubtful that their workload dropped by more than 90% from 2021 when COVID slowed everything down.
