You’re never going to pass the polygraph with this attitude and have totally misunderstand how it actually works.
I looked back and it shows the same guys name in my schedule for next month. I mean can they change it I am sure to throw me off if they are that crooked so you maybe right.
He said we won’t do the whole thing from scratch and it will be a shorter duration. But who knows and you might be right, they are the real liars.
There is a portion of the polygraph ritual that may indeed be dropped. That portion is the “acquaintance test,” also known as a “stim test.” This is the part where you were instructed to choose or write a number and then to deny having done so. The polygraph operator then attempts to convince the subject that he reacted strongly when “lying” about the chosen number. It’s a ploy intended to convince the subject that the polygraph can read his mind and that any attempt to deceive the polygrapher will be futile.
I think that is right something like that happened. He used the alphabet rather than numbers cause he asked if I speak English.
The only other thing he said next time it won’t be as long.
Aside from saying yes/no, one section is nodding/shaking head only. It was a bit uncomfortable doing that while being still cause I was in a bicycle accident years ago where I pulled my neck.
I did tell him that but he didn’t care and said head movements are required.
If I decide not to do the second poly, what happens to the first one?
Does it cancel/disappear or will get shared? I know I get to keep my current clearance though but will lose out on the promotion.
Should I really say this word for word or should i just paraphrase this statement? “I was thinking about the question you asked and my truthful answer”
I don’t want to stay in the room with him at the post-test if he starts his accusation nonsense all over again but some people say if you refuse to do so, it brings more suspicion. What do you think?
This procedure is called a “silent answer test.” It is used especially when countermeasures are suspected.
It will remain a permanent record. The fact that you started, but did not complete, the polygraph process may be shared with other agencies, as may any report written by the polygraph operator.
This is an example. It may be unwise to parrot it verbatim.
Most people pass CI-scope polygraphs. You may well end up passing, too. Before terminating any post-test interrogation, I think it would be prudent to briefly address any concerns raised by the polygraph operator. If he persists in accusing you of lying or withholding information after you have politely but firmly denied having done so, then I think that would be the time to terminate the interrogation and leave.
What would say is a good cut off in the post-test time before I exit his room from the time he starts his accusation to the time I make that similar statement if he starts accusing me again? Three minutes, Five minutes, Eight minutes?
I wouldn’t be looking at my watch to see how many minutes have passed. Instead, I would give the polygrapher a reasonable opportunity to ask any questions he has, and I would address each of them. But once the polygrapher starts rejecting your answers and repeating the questions or accusing you of dishonesty/withholding information, I would deem it appropriate to politely terminate the interrogation and leave.
There is such a thing as junk science. Polygraphs don’t fit this descriptor because “They Arent Science!” Liars pass and truth tellers fail. How we manage to keep using this junk is beyond belief. Why do you suppose they aren’t allowed in court proceedings?
Designed to inflame you. If mad, hard to use counter measures etc. Let them claim anything. Answer only Yes and No. Dont take the bait.
You could have calmly told him"because you are a racist Ahole. This is recorded and we will go over this with your department head. "
Just one technique.
