Let me preface this by saying this has nothing to do with my previous post, just out of curiosity.
What would get your clearance pulled? If you change answers slightly on your TS upgrade form, out of mis remembering or paranoia? Saying you did something in may of 2021 instead of august? saying x times instead of y by accident or for for a certain reason? Stuff like that? Or is it typically agregious things?
If you look at the reasons for initial clearance denials, the top reason is personal finances. So maybe the top reasons for people losing their clearance would also be finances.
Another would be a major security violation of some kind.
Errors in filling out the forms would not cause your clearance to get pulled, I don’t think… unless the “error” was not disclosing some serious issue then “remembering” to list it during your next investigation.
You realize of course that investigators and adjudicators are insanely busy and don’t have time to look into every 1 month oopsie on your hire/separation dates from 6 years ago?
We do actually “look into it” that is why we pull all employment records and notate every single last discrepancy in our report, that is a requirement, and interview Sources for any issues found. With that being said, it is pretty obvious when it is a minor screw up or lapse in memory and when it was omitted on purpose.
Minor date adjustments are not usually a big deal. If you adjusted a date to fill a gap in your employment because you left out an employment that you got fired from, that would be suspicious.
Short answer, yes, it could be a problem. All facts regarding the issue would be considered by the adjudicator so there is no way for me to know what their ultimate decision would be. Taking someone else’s prescription medication is illegal and it is required to be listed. This falls under “misuse of prescription medication” in the drug section. Pay close attention to the listing dates required and only list things that fit within those dates. Be sure to see if the questions are seven year questions or ever questions. Do not omit required information but don’t volunteer more than what the form requires you to list.
You put what the FORM says to put, not the investigator. That’s why I said read instructions carefully and answer accordingly. Telling the judge “the investigator said” will not get you out of hot water.
Unintentional omissions or incorrect dates on employments, school, residences, etc,are normal. Not disclosing something to hide conduct or incidents will get you in trouble. Don’t overthink things, it is harder to remember a lie than to be honest and up front.
Lots of people living in glass houses here. Don’t sweat the small stuff. Unwavering Rigidity leads to a lonely existence of no one being perfect enough.
Yes. If it looks like you under played bad behavior and falsified a form…it can result in a denial. Not reporting a DUI on an upgrade can cause revocation as well.
Having had a total of 8 BI’s over 40 years I always kept a copy of the last one for date purposes. Main reason I’ve seen for clearances pulled was finances or for unadmitted criminal activity.
