What would get your clearance pulled?

Let me preface this by saying this has nothing to do with my previous post, just out of curiosity.

What would get your clearance pulled? If you change answers slightly on your TS upgrade form, out of mis remembering or paranoia? Saying you did something in may of 2021 instead of august? saying x times instead of y by accident or for for a certain reason? Stuff like that? Or is it typically agregious things?

I am just curious.

Nobody knows for sure. There are way too many variables in your questioning.

If you look at the reasons for initial clearance denials, the top reason is personal finances. So maybe the top reasons for people losing their clearance would also be finances.

Another would be a major security violation of some kind.

Errors in filling out the forms would not cause your clearance to get pulled, I don’t think… unless the “error” was not disclosing some serious issue then “remembering” to list it during your next investigation.

You realize of course that investigators and adjudicators are insanely busy and don’t have time to look into every 1 month oopsie on your hire/separation dates from 6 years ago?

We do actually “look into it” that is why we pull all employment records and notate every single last discrepancy in our report, that is a requirement, and interview Sources for any issues found. With that being said, it is pretty obvious when it is a minor screw up or lapse in memory and when it was omitted on purpose.

I humbly defer to @HR2C.

Reason #9004 why it can take 18 months to get a clearance.

so a slight change in answers is fine? I remembered. Imay have done something 2-3 more time. I just had a lot of anxiety about this entire process and wasn’t thinking 100%

Minor date adjustments are not usually a big deal. If you adjusted a date to fill a gap in your employment because you left out an employment that you got fired from, that would be suspicious.

Yeah for sure. I was honest about that. 1 more question .. if an investigator told me that the time or 2 my mom gave me a xanax before i got on a plane doesnt matter, do I include it or what? Additional comments? Same goes for using my friends inhaler, said it didn’t matter. If I put this on my next form could it be a problem?

Short answer, yes, it could be a problem. All facts regarding the issue would be considered by the adjudicator so there is no way for me to know what their ultimate decision would be. Taking someone else’s prescription medication is illegal and it is required to be listed. This falls under “misuse of prescription medication” in the drug section. Pay close attention to the listing dates required and only list things that fit within those dates. Be sure to see if the questions are seven year questions or ever questions. Do not omit required information but don’t volunteer more than what the form requires you to list.

Ok I will put them on the form. But the 1st investigator said that these “didnt count / not what they were looking for”… I mentioned them but, I don’t think he wrote it down.

You put what the FORM says to put, not the investigator. That’s why I said read instructions carefully and answer accordingly. Telling the judge “the investigator said” will not get you out of hot water.

By “pulled” are you asking about a security clearance revocation or denial?

Yes this is what i am refering to.

I had forgotten about these instances while doing the form thats why i brought it up to the investigator.

Unintentional omissions or incorrect dates on employments, school, residences, etc,are normal. Not disclosing something to hide conduct or incidents will get you in trouble. Don’t overthink things, it is harder to remember a lie than to be honest and up front.

Lots of people living in glass houses here. Don’t sweat the small stuff. Unwavering Rigidity leads to a lonely existence of no one being perfect enough.

Yes. If it looks like you under played bad behavior and falsified a form…it can result in a denial. Not reporting a DUI on an upgrade can cause revocation as well.

Minor changes or clarifications are the norm. But deliberately not reporting, then reporting can cause a loss.

I hope the investigator included the 1x use of my friends inhaler lol. reading DOHA that doesn’t seem to be enough or even in the same realm as what others have done. Also : if I moved marijuana that was left on my table by my housemates, to clean said table is that a problem?
