Well my issue is a long one.
2015 (Age 17) I joined the reserves. I guess an SF86 was filled out by my recruiter. However I had no idea this happened until (2022). I guess I was given a secret level clearance but I was never contacted or trained on what this was. I found out during an application for DHS in 2022, the SF86 background was already filled out. I admitted to using weed in 2017 once and in 2018 once during a poly graph. As well as the use of one adderall tablet in 2016 while I was still in HS. I obviously failed and was DQ’ed from DHS for two years.
Fast forward to 2023 I applied for a local agency and submitted to a background check and had to pull my FOIA. (I’m out of the military at this point) I saw the notes said I used while holding an active clearance. After research I then realized I was supposed to self report in order to keep my clearance and integrity. I had no clue.
now I’m about to submit to another one for DHS as I was selected for a job requiring a secret level clearance. Am I screwed? I don’t have a criminal history and am not delinquent on any debt. I’ve traveled 2 times out of the country for vacation.
