Hey everyone. I will soon be applying for a Secret clearance and the only thing that worries me has to do with my past employment history. I worked for a little less than a year at a Bitcoin related company. I don’t have any strong feelings about Bitcoin or the “ideology” associated with it, I was just trying to pay for college and took the first half decent job I could find. I’ve never used Bitcoin for any illegal purposes and the company I was working for was entirely legitimate. Still, I’m worried that the relationship between Bitcoin and drugs would severely hurt my chances of getting a security clearance.
This question might seem kind of trivial, but I personally know one foreign citizen who was denied entry into the US because he was employed at a Bitcoin company so it seems like it’s a red flag. I’d imagine this is too specific of a situation to get much of a concrete answer but any comments are appreciated.
Thanks!
