For anyone who remembers the aftermath of the 2013 Navy yard shooting, there was definitely a push to keep your “telephone source interview” numbers down after the bad publicity on the things that were missed on the shooters background investigation. Not that it would have made a difference, but sometimes it’s just a knee jerk reaction to a bad event.
