Company B public trust can't adjudicate until Company A DoD secret BI clears, advice?

Hi all, I could greatly use some advice on this situation. I know this is similar to other posts but need specific advice here.

At my current company (Company A), I was granted an interim DoD Secret clearance and full investigation is ongoing.

I accepted an offer with Company B which requires a Public Trust (have previously had two Public Trust investigations favorably adjudicated in 2021 and Jan 2025 with other agencies). However, I heard back from Company B that the agency I’m hired for now cannot adjudicate until the open investigation is adjudicated.

What are my options here? I’m not sure how long the DoD investigation will take and don’t want to wait around for that because Company B could rescind the offer if it takes too long. I don’t need a Secret for my new position. But I also don’t want to leave my current Company A and be in limbo. Is there any way to cancel the existing investigation so that the Public Trust can continue? My last Public Trust investigation was cleared within a week and I don’t anticipate issues with this one either. Any advice is greatly appreciated. Thank you!

I’m not sure you can do what you’re wanting. You probably need to pick a horse and run with it.

That said, if you have interim, it usually doesn’t take long for the full to complete. Maybe a few months? Or you could withdraw your full clearance req for company A and get the PT done (PT usually takes couple months). Your interim might still last just long enough for you to muddle through. If company B has any business sense, they’ll realize it would take longer to clear and onboard another candidate than to wait for your issue to get resolved.
