Family Drug Involvement

I read somewhere that having acquaintances involved with drugs could be a potential disqualifier for a TS clearance. Here’s the situation: Immediate family member is an infrequent user of marijuana, but a user nonetheless. I have not used marijuana in some time, and am considering applying for a job requiring TS clearance.

Will my family member’s infrequent use be an issue for me, or am I just being paranoid?

It depends on your own history of use and recency. One of the mitigators for drug use is to remove your self from the environment and people which contributed to your drug use. When you continue to associate with people who use drugs you are in essence condoning the illegal behavior. This is not to say it would result in a clearance denial, just factors to consider.
