Do biological children given up for adoption need to be listed on the Relatives section of the SF-86P? It mentions Child (Adopted) but I presume that means a child that I adopted, not one that was given up for legal adoption. Unclear how to answer this as the adopted parents would prefer not to be contacted…
Child adopted is referring to any children you have adopted and are now legally recognized as the parent. If you’re birth child was adopted by another party then you are no longer legally recognized as the parent and you have no legal ties. That child is no longer your child and does not need to be listed as family. If the adoption occurred during the coverage dates of the investigation then the court details would need to be listed in the civil court section as a non-criminal court action.
