TS/SCI on Depression Meds

Is taking medication or anxiety medication a “no go” or negative consideration for orgs like FBI, DHS, NSA, etc.? I’ve heard of some getting suitability denials after listing these meds on their SF-86.

Many people take SSRIs or similar (e.g., Wellbutrin) for various reasons like anxiety, depression. Would being on such medication keep someone from getting an offer in IC? Let’s say they show stable past mental health - seeing a therapist, taking medication, no signs of unstable behavior.

Taking these medications has become fairly common. You will be asked to provide some kind of release so the investigator can talk to your doctors. I don’t think it is an automatic disqualifier. Even people who have been hospitalized, including involuntarily, have been cleared. I think it all depends on how well you are following up with treatment and the particulars of your personal situation.

Only if the meds are for treating Psychosis. ALSO, KEEP IN MIND…some depression meds are actually used mostly for psychosis and schizophrenia.

This happened to me but luckily the doctor who reviewed my file for an agency, knew what i was using the meds for since he use to be a VA doctor.

Depends on the agency. Most don’t like it, but they cannot admit to this. Especially the Secret Service. If you want more information search for “Secret Service Polygraph” on Yandex. It will be the first hit. Google and Bing have greylisted the site, probably due to pressure from the federal government.
