It is federally legal, and legal in my state. I can read the test results from a reputable producer to ensure I am following the law. I don’t smoke, and consume edibles.
Yet, the guidance I see on this form is that weed bad mkkkkk. Clearance man no like weed.
Well, thanks great. I took oaths to uphold the law and the constitution, not someone’s opinion of the law. What’s the issue? I think it shows far greater judgement and ability to resist outside influence to not drink despite the overwhelming cultural pressure, and choose something safer physically.
The federal legality of those substances is complex. When it comes to clearances and suitability, you HAVE to err on the side of caution. You want to play with it and test the limits of the laws, go for it but don’t complain if your clearance/suitability go bye-bye. Figure out which is more important to you and follow your heart.
I think the main issue is, although hemp products with less than .03 THC became legal under the Farm Bill, the Federal government still has a zero tolerance for THC on drug tests.
Agreed. And adjudicators don’t like splitting hairs. To them, whether it’s 0.1% or 100.1%, and whether you eat it, smoke it, drink it or poop it, weed is weed is weed is weed and they HATE weed lol
It is extremely clear under the federal law. What part seems complex to you? I am following the federal law, to the letter. I am not testing limits at all.
And I hate people that don’t respect federal law, it is unethical and opens the government up to potential suite. I would take this job out of a desire to serve my country and I have better employment opportunities elsewhere.
There doesn’t have to be a Federal law to prohibit employees from doing something as a condition of employment. It’s perfectly legal to wear go-go boots and a Borat style neon yellow banana hammock to go shopping at Walmart. But very few employers are going to let you wear that outfit to work. I’m guessing somewhere there is something that says as a condition of Fed employment in a position that requires drug testing, the employee agrees that he will not test positive for THC. But I don’t know the specific reference.
Great, very easy to not test positive. It doesn’t say that at almost any contractor, you are assuming when discussing fed employment. What it does say is they have a policy against illegal drug use and usually on-site substance abuse of any kind. I am not discussing illegal drugs, or getting drunk on the job. I am talking about federally legal drugs, away from work, exactly like alcohol is.
I think the real reason is that their drug testing cannot reliably distinguish the various strains. Also, there’s really no way of knowing that the product you bought is really and truly 100% free of evil marihuana.
Ever see that little warning on a snack bar saying “produced on equipment that also processes peanuts”
Drug testing can reliably do this now, and it is extremely easy to gas spec an organic compound…like…how do you think they do the lab tests and pass federal compliance? They also test the final product, any contaminant would be caught.
Are you a chemist? Do you know how much this could increase the cost? I am not a chemist, I don’t know the costs, but I know that greater precision and sensitivity comes at a higher price. No doubt there are federal standards but they probably include some error tolerance… and who knows if there is a spec for distinguishing the various cannabinoids.
Just because it can be done, doesn’t mean the government is doing it that way.
You are here arguing with people that have no authority or decision making power on the application and/or interpretation of federal law. Perhaps you could also benefit from some self reflection. What exactly is your goal in posting this here? What do you think WE can do about it?
You are convinced. Go live your life. See what happens. Seen all kinds of people do all kinds of drugs and keep clearance. Others? One puff and they lose it all.
They use a gas spec and it isn’t like some super expensive process at all. Am I a chemist…yes I have a graduate degree. Can’t believe these are the people trusted with clearances
