Am I being scammed by my company?

At the beginning of June of '20 I filled out my SF86 and did a phone interview at the end of the month. Everything seemed normal. This would be my fourth time starting the clearance process because my need for clearance never outlasted the process itself. The third time I was at almost the two year mark before I lost my job. Everything was going fine at work till just before xmas I got a phone call from the new manager that started at the end of November. He said my interim clearance had been denied and they had been getting me wavers to work there. This story changed a few times so it may not be entirely true. He said in the mean time until it finished processing I would have to work flex(temp) at non cleared jobs at my same salary. I agreed. At that point I started checking in at the beginning of every month and ask if it was finished, and I’ve always gotten the same response, “It’s processing”. Two months later that manager left and another replaced him. My salary was cut and he said it was because the process was taking too long. I was also basically given a position that I had kept getting assigned to as a temp. He did tell me that in June if I hadn’t been cleared yet they would try and resubmit me for interim clearance again. When my one friend heard about this he wanted to check on what was going on. He said that once interim is denied it’s never granted. The full process must be completed. He has access to JPAS so I gave him my info to look me up. When he did so he saw that I was interim declined - inactive. He told me that inactive part meant that I was not under any investigation. I asked my new manager what was going on. He talked to the security person and said he was told that the company was sponsoring the investigation with the DoD directly and that’s why it’s not in JPAS. My friend thinks that’s possible but he can’t be sure because his company wouldn’t do it that way. It’s been another two months and there’s yet another new manager. For two weeks I’ve been trying to get my monthly update and she keeps telling me that she’s researching it.

Is there any way to check if they’re lying to me so I keep doing the job that no one else wants to do? Clearance is the only reason I haven’t quit and gone some place better.

JPAS is/ was the system for DOD clearances, so them telling you it’s not is a lie.

Also, JPAS has been in ‘read only’ mode since March 15 of this year. The new system is DISS.

hard to tell what’s going on here but sounds like you may have fallen through a crack. If your company has a security dept or an FSO I would try to contact them directly to find out.

Thank you for replying. The problem is I don’t get to contact them directly. At this point I don’t trust them to tell me the truth anyways. I’m just trying to figure out some external way of verifying what they’re telling me is true, or if they’re just stalling to keep me working there.

Thank you for replying. Is this new DISS system anymore accessible than JPAS, or do I have to see if I can call in a few favors and have other people try and look me up? I’m just trying to figure out what’s actually going on either way.

You’re treading the thin line of a security violation.

You have no need to know your own information in DISS.

I see, so there’s no way to independently verify what I’ve been told by my company then? Even if it is to just verify that I am under investigation?
