I recently took a CI poly for FBI. At first the readings were not coming back clean so the menthod of me answering the questions changed to nodding my head. After answering all of the questions the polygraph stated that I had a significant response to a few of the questions that I shouldn’t have had and it has to be reviewed by qc. They didnt mention which questions in particular had this responses. I stated I told the truth through the whole process. Am I screwed?
Typical lies of the polygrapher. The polygrapher often makes these accusations in order to trick applicants to get them to confess to something that background investigation can’t reveal. Were you told that you would have another session?
I dont think they do this unless you “passed”
Almost everyone fails the “first” time for drugs or serious undetected crimes. Then they badger you for a confession and see what washes out. If they don’t want to discriminate against you for mental health issues or other reasons, and they are not rigging the job for “the friends and family plan”, you have a decent shot. Like most things “it depends”.
I did not “fail” for drugs or serious crimes on my first poly. I was actually told that I passed with “flying colors”.
Surprised they allowed head nods. Might get a follow up poly. Not a big deal. Seen some get 3, 1 got 4.
