Failed a Polygraph TWICE, probably going to have to go back for a 3rd time.

Is it common to fail a polygraph twice for very high level roles? I was asked by the investigator if I could stay the day after to retake it all again, but unfortunately no slots were available.

This is for a DoD agency where I do need a very high-level clearance with a poly.

I am certain I am about to receive another government job offer that may require clearance, but I am not sure if failing these polygraphs twice from one investigation will be held against me.

As I like to say… not exactly “common” but not at all unheard of. It could even be taken as a good sign that they wanted you to come back right away; this suggests there are no glaring issues they want to dig into.

It is common. Im going back for my third as well. Plenty of posts on here you will find taking about 3 or 4. Most go back for two. Few go for one or 4. Depends on the agency as well. So dont sweat it.
