I recently had an unsuccessful CI polygraph with the FBI. If I take another CI polygraph for a different IC agency within the same year, how likely is it that I might have the same outcome? Would that agency factor in the recent result?
The outcome of your recent FBI polygraph examination will likely influence the outcome of any future polygraph examination you may undergo with another federal agency. It will tend to bias the polygraph operator against you, increasing suspicion that you are either lying or attempting polygraph countermeasures, and increasing the polygraph operator’s perceived risk associated with passing you.
I see pretty much a new ci poly would lead to bias results. But the new employer wouldn’t be able to see the failed ci poly results from rhe fbi right ? The potential employer would only see the new results regarding the new exam ? The new IC agency will only see the results of the ci poly?
Each IC agency runs their own independent polygraph process. Unless the new agency specifically request it from the FBI, the new agency will not have access to your polygraph results.
In any federal pre-employment polygraph examination, the operator will ask you about any prior polygraphs you may have taken. At that point, you have little choice but to disclose your FBI polygraph experience.
But even if you don’t mention it, federal agencies share security-related information about applicants with one another.
