Hello Everyone I’m currently going through the Secret clearance process for a pre-employment offer. I’m panicking a little. I filled out the SF-86 form and was honest about everything. I have no financial issues from the past, no criminal history.
One detail I disclosed is that my brother-in-law is a high government official of a foreign country. It’s not an enemy of America , it’s a very neutral country and they have good relations with USA
I noted that I see him maybe once or twice a month, only when my wife FaceTimes her family, and I just say hello briefly — usually for a minute or two. We’ve never discussed politics, my work, or anything sensitive. I’ve never received any gifts, money, or favors from him or anyone in his position.
Has anyone had experience with something like this? I’m freaking out that I won’t start my new job for 6 months if i get full investigation if i’m denied interim clearance!
