In process of getting a clearance but made some mistakes when I was minor

Hello, I’m in a process of getting my Top Secret clearance and I am 25 years old. Back in high school I was hanging out with the wrong crowd and I ended up getting caught shoplifting when I was 17 years old. It was a jacket that costed $500 and I went to juvenile court and did my time in community service and ever since then I have never done anything wrong. I know it’s not on my record but would I have to report that and if I do will that lead in to a denial?

Did you already fill out the SF-86/eQIP? Read the questions carefully, some juvenile matters do not need to be reported.

Even if it does need to be reported, as long as you have not any more such incidents since then, it should not be an issue. But if it does come up, be prepared to provide details on the entire incident.

I haven’t filled it out yet. Oh okay, thank you so much for this information!
