Information about recruiters

I have been very interested in being a BI for some time now. I currently work for the local government and I’m not happy with my job so I keep thinking about BI even more. All of the companies CACI, perspecta, aci, ect. Are hiring, but even for the entry level positions they seem to want people who already have SSBI clearance. I know I’m eligable for clearance; I have zero in my background to be embarrassed about. I dont use drugs, rarely drink, not much of a social media person, I keep good company, and I have good referrals from previous employers. With that in mind, would they be willing to sponsor me for a BI job? I’m happy to relocate and like working alone, writing reports, and I’m very organized. I think the job would be a good fit for me but I’m finding it’s very difficult to get in touch with a recruiter. Does anyone have any information as to have someone to talk to about possible open positions?

With 400 plus on my clearance roster I am always happiest talking to folks with existing clearances. But that is a dynamic crowd. So I also know I MUST submit folks regularly for initial clearances. I think the BI contracts run the same way. If you know the standards and meet them at a high level, particularly the BI companies know they can get you clearance eligibility fast, as they have their fingers on the pulse of current approvals and denials. I get a good feel for a person’s chances in my screening interview. I can work with minor write-ups, fair credit, recreational use outside of 12 months. But he guy showing up with a 535 FICO, previous arrests, a DUI…is going to be a steep hill. So if you are clean…you are clearable. Apply for all of them even without the clearance. Or find entry level cleared work, apply, get cleared and then immediately set out to cross over to a bI job.

Right now . . . they are asking for existing clearance because they CAN ask for existing clearance. As the job market tightens up, this will get more difficult. If you believe that you are otherwise qualified, I would apply anyway. They aren’t always going to be able to be as selective as they would like. Just remember that you will be, even with no problems, setting off on a magical mystery tour that could take 12, 18 months or even longer . . .

What region to you reside? RIght now the contractor BI market on the East and South coast states are flooded with unemployed BIs. If you are in western state, your chances greatly increase.

I’m currently in Vegas. I’m actually looking to move more eastward, but hey–if they have an open position here I’m not going to be picky

Vegas is a good place - google CACI and look for BI openings.
