Moderate Risk Employability for IT Position

Hello,

I have interviewed for an IT position, but have some concerns related to the background investigation.

In February 2022, I was arrested with the following charges, but had them later dismissed based on a 12-month program for anger management/domestic violence. These charges have been sealed by the court.

CHARGE 01
CRIMES AGAINST PERSON HARASSMENT-STRIKESHOVEKICK
TYPE/LEVEL MISDEMEANOR
OFFENSE DATE February 2021
COURT DISPOSITION DISMISSED BY DA
CHARGE 02
DAMAGE PROPERTY CRIMINAL MISCHIEF-UNDER $300
TYPE/LEVEL MISDEMEANOR
OFFENSE DATE February 2021
COURT DISPOSITION DEFERRED AND DISMISSED
SENTENCE 12 00 M DIVERSION PROGRAM

Additionally, I have some IRS debt dating back to 2016, where I racked up in excess of $17k in interest. I submitted a request to abate the Interest. I plan to go on a payment plan before I accept a job offer, even if the interest isn’t abated by then.

Additionally, I have some unsecured debt related to credit cards, around $6k and a personal loan of a bit more. I am current on this debt and have a relatively good credit score.

Regarding employment history: My job history shows longtime employment and self-employment (never being fired). However, I did have a job in telecom (2 years ago), but was fired within the 30-day trial period due to not satisfactorily completing some physical tasks (that were rather demanding for most people due to the extreme nature of the tasks).

Some background on me: I was an active military member who had a secret clearance that separated under honorable conditions, but my clearance has expired since then.

Here is some info on the jobs I’ve looked into. I haven’t tried with anything requiring security clearances, mostly because of what I mentioned above.

Any thoughts on the likelihood of me being found unsuitable for a Low to Moderate Risk position?

Security clearance: Not Required
Position sensitivity and risk: Moderate Risk (MR)
Trust Determination Process: Suitability/Fitness

You have no convictions and some debt? That sounds like the average American. The bar for not getting a clearance are very low. You’ll do fine
