My mother is 90 and lives with me. She has significant debts two credit cards about 10k each and some medical bills she has defaulted on. She is judgement proof only has social security and works with the helps non profit law firm. I just got a job that needs a secrecy clearance. I don’t have power of attorney and she will not give me that. We do own our house. I’m wondering if her debts will be a problem?
If they don’t show up on your credit report they’re not a problem
Do they check her credit report because it would show up on hers not mine? Thank you!
They would check the applicants credit report. Only the applicant gives authorization for them to pull their credit. Unless your mothers getting a background check for security clearance, they wouldn’t check hers. If you have any joint accounts with her that are delinquent, they will show up on your credit report.
