I’m very interested in a position with my company that requires Top Secret Level clearance based on an SSBI for access to Sensitive Compartmented Info. However, I lived in Israel studying there for 6 years up until 9.5 years ago. My wife is also Israeli and is a permanent US resident (green card) but has not yet obtained US citizenship. Is it safe to assume those things would disqualify me, even though everything else on my record is clean?
It would definitely be a difficult hurdle to overcome. Living in Israel for 6 years for studies can be mitigated depending on the circumstances, but they would also look at your spouse’s history as well and question why she has not attained U.S. citizenship yet.
