Saw this article on LinkedIn I feel this way. Not sure if other investigators on here do too.
This paragraph from the article sums it up for me:
“The latest is quiet cracking, a phrase coined by TalentLMS, a learning management system company. The term describes a persistent sense of burnout and stagnation that leads to disengagement, poor performance, and a quiet urge to quit.”
I think the issue is no competition in the BI industry. With DCSA there are only 2 prime contractors so even working for one of their subs, you still have to abide by CACI and Peraton metrics. Unless you’re producing 25 or more SUs per week which is nearly impossible without working more than 40 hours and off the clock, the pay is not worth the stress. Since there is no competition, no where to really go you’re stuck with working for one of the 2. And the pay gets less and less due to lack of competition. It’s a shame
I think some of the DHS workers are going to have to disengage and start dehumanizing all the humans they work with in order to do the things they are being asked to do. I don’t know how current investigators in the field can feel safe doing any sort of in person attempts anywhere whilst showing their badge.
becoming a 1099 contractor solves a lot of the quiet cracking issues. You do have to find your own healthcare plan but regular employees also pay a high price for healthcare even with the employer subsidizing the plan. I made the switch to contractor and do not regret it, should have done it years ago. Something to consider.
