Realized drug omissions on SF 86/ previous 85, disclosed to investigator during interview

My job, a contractor, recently sponsored me for a Secret clearance and I completed an SF 86 to the best of my knowledge. I had completed an SF 85 for a CAC a year and a half prior for an internship with the DoD. I realized I left off someone, a Japanese national that I knew in college, as a foreign contact and checked the question in particular that asks about foreign contact. I checked the other questions and came across the drug question and realized that I had made an careless error on my submission.

It requires experimental drug usage to also be put on the form. I had two past isolated incidents with marijuana. Both at parties in the summer of 2022 and Dec 2023 when I was a college’s student. After the second instance I swore off of weed or any other substance again. When I had done both forms, I assumed it referred to habitual drug use and answered under that criteria.

Upon realizing my error I immediately emailed my FSO and informed him of the situation. He replied that it was already submitted and I could address omissions during the interview. When the interview came around, I told the investigator there were omissions I needed to address and she said I could address them when their specific topics came up. When the drug section came up I disclosed both incidents, when and with whom they happened, and why it was not listed on my form to begin with. I also notified her that my previous CAC investigation also had that discrepancy after I checked the question and she said that she only dealt within the scope of the present investigation, so I don’t know if the previous SF 85 will be pulled as well.

Bottom line, I know that my mistake has decent chance at costing me dearly. It was my mistake that I didn’t pay close attention to the questions and verify my answers’ accuracy. The only comfort I have now is that I’ve taken the proper precautions to mitigate the damage done and correct the record. But I’ll have to wait and see. Not a very good time though
