I am an individual who had a relative die in another country where they do not typically embalm the dead. I fly out tomorrow, funeral is Sunday, I come back Monday night. Do I need to report this foreign travel? I have never held a “sensitive position” and have never obtained a clearance or had any access to classified information and so it does not look like SEAD 3 applies unless there is an interpretation that is binding I am unaware of. I am being sponsored for a clearance by a government contractor and since I was denied an interim I cannot be hired until I obtain a secret clearance. Last I heard from them it was in adjudication and I really don’t want to slow things down by forcing them to re-open my case when I can just make sure to list this travel on my next sf-86. Am I required to report this foreign travel? If so to whom? I have never been briefed or read in nor have I been employed by any sponsoring agency, I am TRYING to get hired with a defense contractor but I am not their employee yet. Thus, I do not see how SEAD 3 applies but wanted to consult with this platform to ensure I do not get an SOR for failing to report this travel.
Who would you report it to given you don’t have a clearance?
I can’t see where you would be required to report this travel. However, keep records of dates of travel, where you stayed, details like that in case it comes up some time in the future.
