Security Clearance Delay (2018)

It was a DoD entity, not a contractor. The individual I was in contact with said that she has no more information and that I can file an FOIA (or something like this) in order to get more information on the issue. They had not been in touch really for 2 years.

I asked this question on the forum, and the census was the normal day counts (not weekdays only). My DOD contractor also passed out a table chart matching closely with those numbers listed in the latest timeline post by Lindy Kyzer. They told to wait until after that average day before contact them for status.

Days since submitting paperwork has been 750+ days , and days since background started 500+ but good luck everyone :+1:t2:

No I haven’t. I want to know do I have to pay to get a security clearance. I’m ready to work overseas again

Did you reach out to your hiring component, the component with whom you interviewed before and issued the CJO? Sounds really unfair.

I did. They gave me a place where I could request additional information. Unfortunately the government is not fair. That is not their concern in the hiring process from everything I gather, especially given how many applications they are dealing with at any given time.

Very distressing to hear. I am so sorry. How did you feel overall about your background - clean/no issues?

It really is unfortunate what happened to you. I would keep applying for positions that require a clearance, maybe start with jobs that only require a “Secret” and try for “top secret” years down the road. I failed a poly for CBP 5 years ago, that would have been a TS. I still applied for other jobs that require clearances and would eventually get offers for jobs that required a “Secret.” It isn’t the end of the road for you, just may have to start at a position a little lower than what you were aiming for. Hope this helps.

I have heard there are going to be more delays. Trump administration are revising current rules. Depending on which position you applied for, it may not be the Pentagon that will review processing. Either way, I hope their priority is to hire more background investigators et al. Personnel seems to be the biggest issue.

Felt great. No issues. Great credit, no criminal record (not even a speeding ticket.). The only delay would have been the amount of international travel that I have done for my research as an International Relations specialist with a doctoral degree.

Thank you. Yes, I may reapply for something. They said it was not security related so we will see.

If it’s not security related, then what does that mean? So vague. And how much of an impact can international travel have? I know folks who travel a lot; feels like folks are getting punished for traveling.

I have filed for more information as they did not originally explain what that meant.

Yes, good that you are probing for more info. Did you mean you filed a FOIA request?

Yes, that is exactly what I did. They got back to me initially pretty quick to tell me they were processing my stuff but we will see what the verdict is.

Did they give you a time-frame for response?

Update: it has now been exactly 2 years since I received my COE. Investigator completed speaking with references in July. I am dying here lol. I don’t understand what is going on. My case officer has changed and he sloppy. I asked him whether I entered the adjudication phase and he said he doesn’t know??! What is going on?

Another qn: why do government agencies ask for naturalization certificates of naturalized family members? They had asked for copies.

My understanding is that the investigator you speak to is only one of many working the case. They won’t know the overall status of where you are in the process. Your FSO should be able to tell you if your investigation is still open or not.

They said it is still actively processing but they aren’t telling me whether I am in the adjudication phase. They said I will never know until final decision.
