Sponsored for SCI

May someone explain to me what it means to be sponsored for an SCI?

It means that, if granted, you will be able to work in a Sensitive Compartmented Information Facility (SCIF). To work in SCIF, you need to have SCI minimally. Please note that SCI is not a clearance, it is an access. Also, SCI does not automatically grant you access to specific program(s)… for that, you will need to be read into the said program(s).
