Technology in Background Investigations

I admit it - I’m addicted to connected technologies - and I’m a huge critic of the LACK of IT used in the background investigation process. But this latest DDOS attack has me second guessing my hopes for an iPad/Chromebook/apps-powered background investigation process. What do you think? Would IT improve background investigations or just make them more vulnerable than they already are?

Lindy, of course all resources should be used to find out if someone can be trusted with classified information. The problem lies in not the gathering of the information, but rather the evaluation of it and discerning what is relevant, accurate, and a potential issue. Guidance, training, and additional manpower to review all of the potential information makes the Government uneasy about wanting to go down that path. Throw in the concerns about the security of information obatined on someone and…well, you have seen what happens.
