Tentative ATC Trainee 4 straight years of unpaid taxes

Since 2021, I have been Doordashing on the weekends. The first year, I filed for taxes. But the next 4 years, I didn’t file. I had tons of stock losses and I was very intimidated by the fact of even filing these by myself and was basically broke. And I thought I was going to owe way more than I actually did end up owing. So this compounded year after year until I got a full time job. I filed all the taxes including 2025 taxes late this year all at once. Although I believe I made a clerical mistake because 1 from the state taxes and 1 from the federal taxes aren’t showing up on their systems. With all the gas credits and the capital losses, I ended up owing less than 600 dollars in total for the 4 years, including fees and interest and all that. Is my clearance cooked? Is there any recourse for me?

You never said if you have an active clearance or if you’re applying for one. I really couldn’t say. I’ve heard worse stories but evading taxes and poor financial judgement are at or near the top of the list of no-no’s. 1 clerical error usually isn’t an issue. But will be a problem if it becomes a pattern.

You can try for the clearance and if it fails, give it a year or 2 before trying again, and FFS, pay your taxes on time from now on lol !! In case you didn’t know, the new tax law heavily favors filers who live off tips.
