What is there left to wait for? TS/SCI

Waiting for TS/SCI for an ODNI non-contractor role, Got my offer last May, had my interview last December, had my poly this March, was medically cleared end of March. Was told in April that they’re “moving on to the next steps” and since then…silence. Even when I reach out to the agency’s HR and security team (I’ve reached out three times since April).

My only red flags are that I have a lot of foreign contacts (lived in London for five years), but I thought all that vetting would have been done during the investigation (which I assume happened between last December and April)? Isn’t the “next step” adjudication?

Is something wrong, or is my package lost or something? How can I find out, if my only points of contact aren’t responding?

I take it “non-contractor role” means direct hire government employee. Keep in mind that since March there have been various hiring freezes, furloughs, early outs, and just a lot of general turmoil in the federal government. Just for comparison, I heard of a guy who had a March-April start date with an IC agency rescinded; he finally started in September… just in time to get furloughed.

Think of this as your first lesson in being a government employee. Things move at two speeds: slow and incredibly slow. As to what the “next steps” were, who knows… another useful introduction, this time to the mysterious, opaque and baffling world of federal HR in general and hiring in particular.
