Hi everyone,
I’m 16 now and I’m trying to plan ahead. My goal is to attend college in the U.S. after graduating high school, then enlist in the Army around age 22 and hopefully give myself a shot at joining special operations. I’m trying to get a realistic idea of how my background might affect my ability to obtain a Secret or TS/SCI clearance.
Here’s my situation:
-
Born in the United States.
-
U.S. citizen by birth.
-
Also a citizen of Canada, Morocco, and Lebanon through my parents (mother was born in Morocco and later immigrated to Canada, father was born in Lebanon and later immigrated to Canada).
-
All of my non-U.S. citizenships were acquired automatically through my parents, I never applied for them on my own.
-
I currently possess U.S., Canadian, and Moroccan passports. I’ve never possessed or used a Lebanese passport.
-
My parents worked for the World Bank, so I grew up partly in the U.S. and partly in several African countries.
-
I’m currently attending an international school in Africa and will graduate at 18 before going to college in the U.S.
Foreign relatives:
-
Grandparents, an uncle, and cousins in Morocco.
-
Two aunts and their families in the UAE.
-
One aunt in France.
-
One aunt in Belgium, with cousins living in various EU countries.
-
One grandmother, uncle, and cousins in Canada.
-
My grandmother’s sister is the only relative I know of who still lives in Lebanon, but I’ve never really spoken to her.
-
All of the foreign relatives listed above excluding cousins were born in either Morocco or Lebanon and immigrated later in their life (if they are not still in their country of birth)
As far as my connections to them:
-
I have normal family relationships with them. We occasionally communicate on WhatsApp, and I see some of them when visiting family during winter or summer vacations.
-
I don’t send or receive money.
-
I don’t own property overseas.
-
I have no business interests overseas.
-
I’ve never worked for a foreign government, and I don’t receive any foreign government benefits or pensions.
-
No one in my family currently works for a foreign government or military. One uncle completed mandatory military service in Lebanon in the late 1990s.
-
No one has ties to terrorism or extremist organizations.
Other background:
-
No criminal history.
-
Never used illegal drugs.
-
No alcohol-related issues.
-
No financial problems or debt.
-
No compulsory military obligations to Morocco or Lebanon.
Can I expect a secret and ts/sci?
