When a clearance has been suspended due to an SOR and the employee submitted all the mitigating/supporting/defending information, does the adjudicator review all the information in the file and make a decision? Or does he/she kick it to an investigator to review further? I do know that the adjudicator can go to the agency or individual to provide more information or clarify what has been submitted…but I am more asking about if there is further investigation prior to a decision being made.
No, the adjudicator bases the decision on all information obtained in the course of the closed investigation and any mitigation presented by the subject in response to inquiries or an SOR. However, that does not preclude consideration of new information should it be brought to light before a final decision is made.
