Adjudication Timeline for FSP?

I’m scheduled to take my FSP at the MPO next Tuesday. Currently hold a TS/SCI with CI. After completing the FSP exam, what is the adjudication timeline for obtaining a decision?

My clearance timeline to get to this stage:

  1. Investigation completion date: 12/2023
  2. Ts with SCI eligibility date: 12/2023
  3. SCI indoctrination with Company A for Chantilly Customer: 01/2024
  4. FSP paperwork submitted to MPO via Company B: 07/2024
  5. Clearance Crossover Submission via Company B for Springfield Customer: 01/2025
  6. Clearance Crossover Approved for Springfield Customer: 01/2025
  7. CI poly with Springfield Customer successful adjudication date: 02/2025
  8. FSP exam for MPO scheduled for 04/2025
  9. FSP adjudication date: TBD

What does MPO stand for?

Only answer anyone can give you is “it depends” which isn’t a great answer but everyone’s clearance timeline is unique. The Q1 2025 Trusted Workforce report says the fastest 90% of clearances are averaging 20 days in adjudication, but (a) that’s the fastest 90%, (b) it’s an average.

You will likely need to take more than one polygraph before passing. They like to fail you once or twice to make you more likely to admit something in the later exams. For me, it was about 3 months or so between polygraphs and I ended up having 4, although 2-3 is to be expected.

Once I passed it only took a month or so to get adjudicated.

My updated timeline:

  1. Investigation completion date: 12/2023
  2. Ts with SCI eligibility date: 12/2023
  3. SCI indoctrination with Company A for Chantilly Customer: 01/2024
  4. FSP paperwork submitted to MPO via Company B: 07/2024
  5. Clearance Crossover Submission via Company B for Springfield Customer: 01/2025
  6. Clearance Crossover Approved for Springfield Customer: 01/2025
  7. CI poly with Springfield Customer successful adjudication date: 02/2025
  8. FSP exam for MPO scheduled for 04/2025
  9. Passed FSP exam today (04/29/2025)
  10. FSP adjudication date: TBD

No one can answer this question. It all just depends. It used to be a first in, first out scenario. These days, we don’t even know how many adjudicators are even still employed. It’s a real crap shoot in this field. I had a FSP not adjudicated for years. By the time it was, i had already taken a job where it wasn’t needed.

What is MPO btw?

Certainly understand. Maryland Program Office - I usually say that instead of the 3 letter agency at Fort Meade.
