So I got an email from A special agent stating they want me to redact EVERY name in my appeal documents i sent them. There are over 1000 pages. None were classified in any way.
Anyone ever heard of something like this? Sounds fishy.
THEY ALREADY HAVE THE PAPERWORK. What is the point? Sounds like they just don’t want to look at them and instead are trying to make me drop case.
This makes no sense. If you are appealing a clearance denial or revocation, then everything you submit to the government has to be able to be read by them. If you sent a redacted document to the government, then they would not be able to read parts your response, thus effecting their decision to reinstate your clearance. This makes no sense, and if you have not already, you need to get a lawyer on this case right now. The government is not following their procedures which you are entitled to under due process.
I am surprised you got a document with unredacted names. Names are almost always redacted whenever the government gives out documents. Before you submit anything, consult with an attorney because this sounds suspicious.
You would be shocked at what I’ve seen agents ask for. I think sometimes they’re not really paying attention to what they’re requesting. A lot of the time they’re probably just in a hurry and looking for the fastest way to get what they need from you. I had one ask me to send my medical files to him in word format from my personal email. When I sent it securely, he said he didn’t have the app to decrypt it and demanded I send it unencrypted. I had to complain to his SAIC who was gobsmacked when I told her about it.
