My references were interviewed last week and this week I have a subject interview with another investigator to cover my sf86. He said the interview should last for about an hour or two. I told him I have not lived a complicated life so my interview should be easy. He told me don’t be so quick to say that because he has a lot to go over.
@Verti, knock it out, man.
Just hope you don’t get a guy like the one that often came to my last job. He was legendary for four-hour interviews. Except he would do most of the talking ![]()
My interview took about 3 hrs. All in all it was not a bad experience. I was on top of my credit repayments and explained in detail about being terminated from a previous employer. It’s amazing how much info I filled in on the sf86 that was either wrong or not thorough. However, I explained everything in detail to the investigator. I have a couple of documents to give him and I should be good to go.
Hey!! I resemble that remark sbusquirrel!!

@Verti… good luck!!!
Hi. I am new here, I posted something a few days ago and now can’t find it… Anyway, my timeline:
8/2018 - passed all Language tests for a Linguist position for a certain agency.
8/2018 - had an interview
8/2018 - SF86 sent
9/2018 - had a poly
9/2018 - had them contact references on SF86.
6/2019 - received an email from the HQ asking if I know any other languages.
I asked them if they have any visibility into the progress of my BI - they said no. Also, my security officer (recruiter) is also useless in that regard. The only “problem” I see on my SF86 is that I travel internationally twice a year for vacation. I know, don’t judge )). I listed all my travels and even after submitting SF86 I let them
Know I went again and had PSI meetings scheduled. Other than that I have good credit, no drugs, no arrests. It’s been a a year since my poly and them starting contacting my references. Oh yeah, this is for TS. Anyone with a recent TS clearing process?
Did your recruiter setup the PSI after your trips abroad? I took a trip abroad (informed them before and after) and was told that someone will reach out to me if there are any questions. It’s been a very long time and still nothing.
Yes, I sent an email to my recruiter and within a day or two someone from the agency set up a PSI for me. One time I had to go there in person, but for the second trip we did it over the phone. If I were you I would remind them of your trip again.
Thanks for letting me know. Believe me I have reminded them several times and offered to provide details several times haha
Question. Do you guys think that switching jobs slows down the clearance investigation process? Because they have to contact the new manager, HR… I’ve already switched one job and it wasn’t pleasant when HR called asking me what’s up with these people calling us and they also had to get Legal dept involved. What if I don’t notify my sec officer? Is that a big deal? It’s not looking favorably on you when you start a new job and these things happen.
It took me 18 months as well for a secret.
A 3rd BI is in town this week to interview references that weren’t interviewed the first go around. I’m assuming this is normal.
Hey Tenaheff,
Is this 18 months from submission of E-Quip or 18 months in just adjudication?
Hey Marine… Semper Fi. It was 18 months from certification of e-quip submission.
Hi everyone,
I am new on the contracting career. I send in the papers to my company for BEP to start my eqip. It is been a week and two working days and I haven’t see the email for the application. Just like to find out how long is the process. Thank you!
It finally went through after almost 4 years. So I guess it’s true what they say… it will happen
Almost four years??? Wow that beats my record… but mine was for a periodic reinvestigation where I was still cleared and they always go a little slower.
Hi Patriot,
I also just received a report of my BGI via FOIA from OPM which stated
" OPM assessment: F -no issues- Level 1 review" - the same as yours (I saw ur post from 8/2018).
Did you get clearance? if so, how long after BGI closed ?
I appreciate any response, Thanks.
