BiPolar Clearance Reactivation

Hello,

My question is what are my chances of being denied a clearance reactivation at new job. The background is I have gotten a security clearance in the past with no issues but was not diagnosed with bipolar at the time only depression which I disclosed. Ended up switching jobs and my clearance was deactivated, now I am getting a new job in the time window to allow for reactivation though I was diagnosed with bipolar after my clearance was deactivated at the time.

I did not know foolishly that I had to report my bipolar diagnosis when my clearance was deactivated so I did not report it. I plan to report when the long weekend is over. I was diagnosed in April-May of 2024 and have been seeing a psychiatrist like clock work since 2022 along with a counselor as well. I have taken all medication as prescribed and followed all recommendations from my doctor and she has given me a clean bill of health saying that I am stable.

I have a clean record, only run ins with the law when I was 19, I am 36 now and have no drug use, been with my wife ten years and am stable, never been hospitalized for my condition and willingly sought out treatment for it, never by court order, also have a solid work history with letters of recommendation from past bosses and coworkers. In general looking from the outside I am stable and well adjusted and have no issues.

With all that said not reporting my bipolar diagnosis right away is the biggest red flag to me and I feel so dumb that I did not report it. What are my chances of getting my clearance reactivated?

Thanks

I’m not sure why you think you had to report a bipolar diagnosis when you had no clearance? Just report everything now if you are supposed to. Take your meds, follow doctors guidance, and keep your nose clean. These types of diagnosis are treated as medical conditions.
