I’ve noticed today that the NSA application portal has been completely offline and the CIA careers page now redirects to a new page stating that they are not accepting applications.
Does anyone have any insight as to what this might mean? I assumed the IC were exempt from the hiring freeze, but could this indicate that they aren’t after all?
Maybe they are pausing while they get the exemptions process taken care of? No idea how long that typically takes or if thats what is happening. Read elsewhere it might be DEIA related, too.
I noticed that too… I’m assuming they’re exempt because they fall squarely within national security and maybe just are reevaluating hiring needs? FWIW I haven’t seen anyone mention getting rescinded on here with those two just yet
That’s what I thought, too. CIA was actively processing candidates just earlier this week. I just stumbled upon this announcement about a canceled February recruitment event due to a hiring freeze:
They may be exempt, but if they are like FBI, they are not doing any new hiring or promoting right at the moment. Aside from that, I’m sure the sites being down is a coincidence.
The anti-DEA initiatives have put all federal agencies in a quandry, therefore causing them all to pause hiring. Nobody knows who they can hire, how they can hire them, or what questions they can ask of candidates. It’s a cluster for all and the government is grinding to a halt.
