Question for the group. I just got rejected for a contractor job because of foreign associations. NSA had me sign a waiver for the SCI access for the same issue. I’m a dual citizen with a friendly country as is my wife, but all her family have US citizenship. I got caught in the hiring freeze which is why I’m not at NSA. Is this going to be a problem with every contractor? Will this hold me back with the big companies out there such as Microsoft, Google, AWS etc? What has your experience been like?
The higher your clearance, the more they scrutinize your foreign associations. Also, IC tends to look at that more than others. CIA and NSA are brutal. Will you have trouble at other employers. No idea. Not enough info. Not knowing anything specific about your foreign associations, We can’t tell you much else.
Added some more details. I’m a dual citizen with a friendly country as is my wife, but all her family have US citizenship. The part that perplexes me is that the contractor job was working with the NSA. Is there more scrutiny with a contractor versus working for them?
Got some more info for anyone else who runs into the same problem, looks like it was SAP access that held me back and should not be the norm.
