Hi all,
I’m looking for insights regarding the current processing timeline for a DBIDS 180-day temporary base access manual waiver at Naval Research Laboratory (NRL Washington, DC) as of current (October 2026).
Context:
-
Background: Non-felony / Misdemeanor disposition (PBJ in MD, fully resolved over 2.5 years ago). No felony convictions, no NSOR issues (not a Hard Bar).
-
Status: Initial DBIDS screening completed on 09/29 with No RFI requested, and the package was forwarded to SJA/Command review for a manual waiver under a strong sponsor Mission Need.
-
Current situation: Reached out to the Senior PI (sponsor) on 10/19, who confirmed they requested a status update from NRL Security and are currently awaiting the official determination.
Given the FY27 administrative backlog/transition period, is a 3 to 5-week processing window typical for Command Waiver signatures at NRL right now? Any recent experience or timeline feedback would be greatly appreciated!
Thanks!
