Delay in Secret Adjudication

Hey Everyone,

I’ve applied for a Secret clearance with State. My case was received July 24, 2014, and sat in a queue for over a month. It made it through investigations fairly quickly, and has now been with adjudications since the end of October (nearing 2.5 months ago.)

At this point, my case has been with adjudications longer than it was in investigations; is this normal/acceptable? I thought that investigation was the really long part (I was prepared for that), and that adjudication is supposed to happen in under a month.

I try to keep abreast with every clearance related, but it’s a lot to take in.

Thanks for your help.

This is normal timelines, especially with the holidays and such. State Department adjudicates their own cases and prioritizes based on need. Don’t worry about it unless you get a letter of intent to deny,

Thanks for the information, Marko. I’m afraid of joining the group of horror stories of people being trapped in adjudications.

This is definitely a lesson in patience, @issuedetector.

Wisely stated!

What was it I read about adjudications and some 21-day rule?
