I just received a phone call from my TL indicating that indeed we are closing our doors on the OPM contract. Good luck to all!
fedagent,
Seems like the only place FIS staffs up is in D.C. or Boyers.
They havenāt replaced anyone in our office in years and now weāre rotating TDY to cover our own area due to the attrition.

I hear ya. We have the same problem where I am at. However, I have it from some reliable sources that OPM is looking to have a better balance between FIS and the two remaining contractors. They donāt want Keypoint to simply take the place of USIS as the big dog on the block.
Hiring has been on hold because they wanted to see how NDAA and the USIS situation would play out . Now that we have those answers, OPM can better predict where we will need resources and exactly how many we will need. I would imagine once the budget rolls over with the new FY you will see hiring notices start to go up.
That is what I hear anyway. Weāll see.
I hope youāre right.
The budget is still going to be a huge issue as you know what state itās in currently.
I hope we do staff up though and get some of these contractors that deserve to be on this side of the house.
Hey forum mods, you think you could add a personal message feature here? I think someone else asked about it in another thread. It would be nice to be able to hook up with other members off the public space.

I donāt know if it is possible for us to not staff up to some degree. I really donāt think that Keypoint and CACI are going to take on the entire USIS staff. When it comes down to it X number of Investigators are still needed to do the work.
does this mean i can tap into my 401k?
Ā
not that USIS had a good 401k anyway!!
I just want to say thanks to all of you who have been so supportive since 8/6. We USIS investigators would have been lost without your support. THANK YOU!
Maybe, maybe not. I keep hearing how bad the budget is, theyāve cut all our training, OT and TDY only in the most dire of cases.
You can only ādo more with lessā for so long and on top of it all, DOD wants to drive down the cost of an investigation?
Maybe losing USIS will save the agency money. During one of the hearings, Senator McCaskil asked if there were any studies done which show ontracting out the program actaully saved money. Of course the answer was no. LOL.
did anyone hear what happenecd with the CBP contract that USIS has with DHS.
DHS has already asked OPM to take over the CBP and ICE cases.
I was initially hesitant to jump ship as I am a very loyal employee. But, I sure am glad that I applied with Key Point and accepted their offer. If we look hard enough we can find something negative about every potential employer. If things go as planned, I should be working for Key Point next week. I wish each of you the best.
My TL just called to confirm the news. For some odd reason, I am not surprised in the least!
At least weāre not in total limbo now.
Wonder what will be happening with our company vehicles? Turning them back in at the fleet locations where we initially picked them up perhaps?
Whats sad is the number of Investigators that held out and believed this company would actually be able to pull of a miracle and recover from this disaster. Now what? The recruiting process at these other companies takes anywhere from 3-6 weeks, I know because Im going thru it now and very close to the end. I just hope that you guys land on your feet. I believe that CACI and Keypoint will really take their time now and possibly low ball people and remove the bonus option. Sad Days ahead.
Weāre getting the calls/notifications tonight because the news leaked (and I give a lot of credit to this forum). I wonder how long it would of taken for news to get to us if it hadnāt got out early, and how will the company handle our outprocessing? I mean, it canāt mess that up right?

@ double07
Right on the money, my friend! The smart ones used this furlough to seek employment at KPGS/CACI. In turn, their efforts resulted in negotiated higher salaries, sign-on bonus, etc. Tomorrow, at 8 a.m., CACI/KPGS will receive over 2,000 applications nationwide. Forget good deals because they can now be picky as to who they want and for what price they will pay. Also, specific geographic locations may not be negotiable.
Sad days ahead, indeed. In fact, I am certain there will be many FIās who will remain unemployed after the dust has settled.
Ā
I am very sad for myself and all the good people that I worked with at USIS.
Does anyone know if we will still have to pay back our benefits? My TL hasnāt contacted me yet. Good luck to everyone and I hope we all land on our feet.
Ā
Ā
You will be billed for health/fleet benefits. But USIS no longer exists 9/30/14, so there is no one to pay. USIS is dissolved.
Ā
FYIāall RDās aware of this long time ago and used their leave.

As for Fleet auto, just call GE Fleet toll-free & they will arrange to have your Fleet auto picked up from your personal residence. Keep in mind, everyone is allowed to keep their USIS-issued printer. USIS does not want all this equipment as it is not OPM-issued. Where would they put it?
Make sure and Cancel your USIS credit card, like tomorrow!!
