Im not sure whether to believe what they say or not. I’ve had a couple of buddies be told that they passed after taking the polygraph. Heard some things online where they tell you that you didnt pass and you end up do passing vice versa. Just took my second one and was told that I resolved an issue with my lifestyle but failed CI questions. The questions that he asked me needed me to have a clearance anyway so that doesn’t make sense to me. Has anyone been told they failed and they ended up passing/vice versa? Or with this agency, have you been told that you passed and you passed. I hate worrying about this. My buddies all got it on the first try apparently and im sitting here struggling. Im not sure whether to believe the polygrapher or not. This waiting game sucks
Took me 3. Third one they said I passed at the end.
What did they tell you on your first and second one? The usual “you failed” or “your results were inconclusive”.
I think they just said you need to come in again. I don’t remember them saying inconclusive and they definitely didn’t say I failed. I thought I had failed on the second one and was surprised they said to come in again. Good ole mind games.
Yeah for my first one was “Ill send your results to adjudication but they will have questions”. Second one was “You resolved/passed your background (lifestyle) questions from the last polygraph but you failed every CI question. Plus we just didnt have enough time to finish this one” One of the questions asked if I ever Mishandled classified information yet I’ve never held a clearance…. Hopefully I just passed. Most likely imma have to take a third one
BRILLIANT?
“Have you ever mishandled classified information?”
“I’ve never even SEEN any classified information!!!”
Examiner cannot pass or fail you. They can say they saw or didn’t see issues, or say inconclusive and ask you to come back for another round. Only adjudicators can pass/fail you.
That is correct, but I have never heard of anyone who was told "you passed” by the examiner that had to go back. They usually say something like “you passed but it still has to go through a review process.”
Was told I passed on the first try at the end of the session. Ultimately adjudicators have the final say.
I took one early last month for a 3 letter agency. The examiner at the end of that one told me there were no red flags and I should pass with no problem. A couple weeks later, I got a call that I needed to schedule a 2nd poly but they wouldn’t tell me my results of my first one. End of last month I took my 2nd one and at the end the examiner told me there were 2 questions I was allegedly reacting to, which were 2 of the same questions that I supposedly passed in the 1st poly. However my 2nd examiner never told me if I passed or failed that one. It’s been roughly 2 weeks now and I have yet to hear anything back so I’m not sure what to think, since they said it would take 2-3 weeks to get the results back.
Its funny because my buddy got told that he passed and he got called back for a second one 3 weeks later. Ironic right? But either way, yeah man we are in the same situation except apparently I reacted to “all” CI questions. 3 weeks and some change now and all my company says is im still processing. What I’ve heard from people is if you were denied you would’ve 100% heard by now. Im trying my best to be optimistic. Hopefully you get in man.
I was told by the Secret Service I failed, then pressured to give an admission, had nothing to admit, told I might be “retested”, later informed they had a better qualified applicant. I know people who have had to undergo 5 polygraphs with the NSA. Imagine if it took 5 CAT Scans to make a diagnosis, the patient would be dead from radiation poisoning.
I’d like to know what “adjudication” looks like for a polygraph. I remember hearing stories from the military that the promotion boards have to look at so many packets they get to spend like three minutes on each one. I suspect it is the same with this mess… so almost all the time is burned up waiting for the case to get to the top of somebody’s queue… and then it probably has to go sit in someone else’s queue to get entered into the database.
